The ASA offers members access to a Publishing Consultancy Service, a one-on-one consultation with an industry expert who can provide you with tailored advice about any aspect of the publishing industry.

The fee for a one hour consultation is $302.50 (GST inclusive). Please pay the fee online here: https://www.asauthors.org/products/additional-services/publishing-consultancy-service

You will need to supply your order number (or invoice number) on this submission form below. It is a 5-digit code that can be found in your email confirmation and receipt after payment.

The ASA will allocate a consultant to you based on the nature of your query and the availability of our consultants, however, we will also take into account any preference you indicate below.  The consultants bios can be found here.

Please provide a Word Document up to 500 words, including a detailed description of your query and any specific questions you wanted answered by your consultant.

You can also provide URLs and up to 3 other files of relevant, supporting material to assist your consultant in answering your query.

By submitting this form, you are agreeing with these Terms and Conditions:

1. Discussion with your consultant may take place via phone, Zoom or email. 

2. If you cannot attend the agreed meeting time, you will discuss and agree a revised timetable with your consultant. 

3. Payment is to be made in advance to the ASA. We retain 10% as an administration fee and on-pay the balance to the consultant. There are no refunds other than in the event of cancellation of the consultation.

4.  The Consultancy Service does not secure publication. Consultants do not provide referrals to publishers or agents as part of this service. The Consultancy Service does not provide legal, financial or tax advice and should not be relied upon for such advice.  If you need legal, tax or financial advice, you should seek advice from a qualified lawyer, tax or financial advisor.

5. The ASA does not accept any responsibility or liability for the advice given by the consultants, who are independent of the ASA.  

6. You will be sent a short survey form at the end of the consultation, which may be completed on a voluntary basis for the purposes of improving services to ASA members.
