Benevolent Fund

The Writers Benevolent Fund was established on the initiative of the late Nancy Keesing, Australian poet and author.

Distribution

The ASA has negotiated an agreement with John Reed Books, to provide sales and distribution for ASA members' new print books.

The ASA has partnered with Port Phillip Insurance Services to give all our members exclusive access to a special insurance package, up to 50% savings.

Legal Advice

Authors Legal is a non-profit law firm, providing low-cost legal advice on all publishing, agent, and distribution agreements, along with advice on copyright and contractual issues facing authors and illustrators.

Publishing Consultancy

The ASA offers members access to a Publishing Consultancy Service, a one-on-one consultation with an industry expert who can provide you with tailored advice about any aspect of the publishing industry.

Guidelines on pay rates in the publishing industry as well as for work other than writing – including festival appearances and workshops.

Rates tracker

The ASA have instituted a rates tracker to help accurately record trends and monitor rates that are being paid on the open market.

Style File

The Style File showcases the work of talented Australian illustrators and is used by publishers, authors and others in the industry to find illustrators to commission for work.
