We have been made aware of a self-publishing company, EC Publishing, emailing authors in Australia with offers to exhibit your book at the Miami International Book Fair 2019.
This email claims ‘your book has been chosen to have a special spot for the upcoming Miami International Book Fair which will be happening this Nov. 17-24, 2019.’ The email may quote your exact book title and ISBN. We believe you will be asked for money to exhibit your book and possibly to provide collateral material. The email includes the offer of re-publication of your book, which will also cost you a significant sum. Our concern is that our members will take up this offer believing their book will be spotlighted at the Book Fair, and not realise they are actually being targeted for money.
We understand versions of this scam have been around since 2013.
We will contact the organisers of the Miami Book Fair to alert them to this email campaign from EC Publishing and hope they will take action.
