Important Reminder for Indie Authors

28.05.19

Are you an independent author? Do you know about legal deposit? Did you know that, upon publication, indie authors are legally required to send a copy of their book to the National Library of Australia and their state or territory library? This obligation covers print books and ebooks. Given a choice, libraries will prefer to receive your deposited book in digital format. The purpose of legal deposit is to ensure our libraries maintain a complete record of Australian publishing and preserve publications for future generations.

The ASA acknowledges the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet and work, and all Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia. We recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' continuing connection to land, place, waters and community. We pay our respects to their cultures, country and elders past present and emerging.

The ASA respects Australia's first storytellers.
