Story Box Library - a paid opportunity for children’s book authors and illustrators

20.05.20

If you’re a children’s picture book author or illustrator (or teacher or parent!), we invite you to visit Story Box Library, an online storytelling hub with a focus on Australian books.

This educational website for pre-schoolers and primary-aged children features 300+ videos of stories by local authors and illustrators being read aloud by storytellers such as Nick Cave, Noni Hazlehurst, Aunty Joy Murphy, Aaron Blabey, Clare Bowditch and Missy Higgins.

Schools, early childhood organisations and public libraries pay for subscriptions to Story Box Library, and provide free access for their families, although families can subscribe directly also.  Subscriptions allows access to high quality productions of picture books being read aloud by fun and engaging narrators, and in addition, resources for teachers, including ‘classroom ideas’ and at-home family activities.

Authors, illustrators and publishers are all paid a licence fee for the use of their work on the platform, and the ASA applauds the fact that Story Box Library is providing a paid opportunity for creators and celebrates Australian books.

If you have a new book coming out that you think would be suitable for Story Box Library, please encourage your publisher to pitch it to Story Box Library. Or, if you feel one or more of your backlist titles would be appropriate, you are welcome to contact Story Box directly here

Stay tuned for more opportunities from Story Box Library in the coming weeks.
