Picture Book Collaborations: Dual Mentors

Born out of our Picture Book Collaborations event, Erica Wagner and Craig Smith are offering a combined mentorship opportunity for writers and/or illustrators of picture books.

Receiving input from both the writing and illustrating perspectives, a dual mentorship allows writers, illustrators or a writer/illustrator team to bring their work into its most publishable form and more confidently present their work to publishers.

Who is it for?

The combined mentorship can be accessed by both individual creators as well as a writer and illustrator teams. You can access the service if you are one of the below:

  • Aspiring picture book author with a completed manuscript
  • Aspiring illustrator with a completed picture book flatplan
  • A picture book author/illustrator (1 person) writing and illustrating a picture book
  • Illustrator and Author team (2 people), i.e. 1 author and 1 illustrator working on a picture book together, sharing the mentorship, one payment to the ASA.
How does a mentorship with dual mentors work?

The aim of this mentorship is to assist the mentee(s) to have a project ready for submission to publishers.

The mentorship is for five hours, including reading time. The five hours of mentoring will be split between the two mentors, Erica and Craig, with up to two-hours of joint mentorship with the two mentors at once.

The mentorship time can be divided depending on who the mentee needs mentoring with most, i.e. Craig as the illustrator or Erica as the author or both Craig and Erica together to assist with the workings of an author illustrator collaboration.

Cost?

Members: $825 inc GST

Non-Members: $1225 inc GST

This is a fixed price for the dual membership. Author and illustrator teams can book in at the price of one for feedback from the dual mentors.
